Situated just 10 miles away from the Groton-New London Airport, this Mediterranean-style mansion is an American classic. In 1902, steel magnate Charles S. Guthrie built his country home overlooking Long Island Sound and called it Meadow Court after the wildflowers, which surrounded it. The famous landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmstead, who also designed Central Park in New York, designed the 4.5-acre grounds. Meadow Court became a focal point for social events and a retreat for film stars including Bette Davis and Joan Crawford.
