It is built on the site of the first permanent settlement in the Detroit region, Fort Pontchartrain. The fort housed within its walls Ville Du Detroit, the tiny settlement that became the Motor City. Now, the same site is host to an Elegant European-style hotel adjacent to Cobo Hall, and only three blocks from the Renaissance Center. The hotel is very convenient to Detroit’s metro system.
